Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group Successfully Holds Showcase of Evergreen Film College Musical 'Sarang' Showcase performance of 'Sirang,' the representative musical brand of Gijang-gun.

Dongseo University and Gijang-gun were selected together for the "2023-2024 Regional Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project" organized by Busan Technopark, and are promoting the "Evergreen Project," which aims to provide cultural experiences for underprivileged groups in the region and create jobs through film and video culture education and hands-on activities.

The musical "Ssi-rang," which was created mainly by residents of Gijang-gun, is part of the Evergreen Project. It is a newly created musical based on the legend of Ssirangdae, one of the eight scenic spots of Gijang-gun in Busan. Through the love story of Princess Ssi-rang of the sea world and Miga of the land world, the musical delivers a message of love and harmony. This new musical was created through the Evergreen Project.

In this showcase, 20 resident actors from Gijang-gun, together with the Dongseo University Musical Entertainment production team, presented three scenes: "Rain Ritual," "Beyond That," and "Whispering," receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience at the Gaetmaeul Festival.

A citizen who visited Ilgwang Beach expressed gratitude for the great performance by gifting coffee and drinks to the cast, and shared hopes that the musical would become a representative brand of Gijang.

This performance is being produced under the original work and artistic direction of Professor Oh Sejun of Dongseo University’s Department of Musical Entertainment, with music by Kim Sua, adaptation and direction by Kim Minseon, choreography by Kim Boram, and other professional creators active in Busan. It is also under the expert guidance of leading mentors in Busan, including tenor Yang Seungyeop and Dongseo University adjunct professor Choi Deoksin, raising expectations for the completed work. In addition, the collaboration with Dongseo University's IFS (in-school virtual troupe) "Dongseo Musical Entertainment" is expected to deliver a highly polished stage.

Professor Oh Sejun, who is in charge of overall production, stated, "Through this performance created by the hands of Gijang residents, we aim to create a tourism content that is not produced elsewhere and consumed in Busan, but is made in Busan for visitors from other regions to enjoy."
