Royalty Marketing operates the 'Ponta' points program, which has over 100 million members worldwide and can be earned and used at more than 300,000 stores including Japan's convenience store Lawson.
The two companies plan to start with Korea and Japan and expand their business into global markets such as Taiwan, Malaysia, and Vietnam, aiming to discover new business opportunities and establish a cooperative system in various fields.
Starting today, the OK Cashback app will offer 5-7% discount coupons usable at stores like Don Quijote, Bic Camera, and Tsuruha Drugstore for users traveling to Japan.
Additionally, if users issue a 'Ponta & OK Cashback' card through the OK Cashback application, they can accumulate and use points at various affiliated stores, including Lawson convenience stores in Japan.
Soon, benefits such as discount coupons up to 42% usable at Burger King, KFC, and other places for Ponta point members visiting Korea, product-specific discount coupons at 7-Eleven, and discounts at K-beauty shops will also be provided.
Furthermore, the two companies plan to strengthen region-based cross-marketing targeting specialized tourist destinations frequently visited by Japanese such as Jeju Island and Busan, as well as Tokyo and Osaka, which are popular among Koreans. They also plan to offer services necessary for overseas travel, including insurance, currency exchange, and roaming services.
Kim Gyosu, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of SK Planet, said, "We plan to showcase marketing that enhances benefits for customers by combining the strengths of the number one point operators in Korea and Japan," adding, "Through the accumulated business know-how of both companies and the establishment of a global alliance centered on East Asia, we will strive to expand the service value of OK Cashback worldwide."
