Job and Employment Environment Improvement... Ranked 2nd Among County-Level Local Governments Nationwide
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) recently won the Excellence Award in the job creation and employment environment improvement category at the ‘2024 National Basic Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practice Competition.’
According to the county on the 8th, this competition is hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters and is held to discover and spread outstanding cases among pledges and policies of local government heads nationwide.
This year, out of 353 submitted cases, 186 cases that passed the first document screening advanced to the finals. Wando-gun presented a case titled ‘The Creation of Future Marine New Industry Jobs Begins in Wando,’ focusing on training specialized personnel for marine healing and job creation in the marine healing industry sector.
Through this, it was evaluated that opportunities for social participation of the elderly increased, daily sports activities were revitalized, public jobs were secured, and work efficiency was improved.
Wando-gun ranked second among domestic local governments in the job creation and employment environment improvement category, earning the honor of receiving the Excellence Award.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “With 40,000 visitors to the Marine Healing Center, which opened for the first time in Korea last year, our county is emerging as a wellness tourism destination. We will promote the marine healing industry in connection with medical, tourism, and bio-industries to create about 30,000 jobs and generate income, aiming for regional development. Moreover, we will lead a trusted county administration by fulfilling pledges that residents can feel.”
Wando-gun is expected to continue leading regional development and job creation, achieving sustainable growth in the future.
