Driver Refuses Police Breathalyzer Test
A man in his 20s who caused an accident while riding a motorcycle under the influence assaulted the reporter, took his mobile phone, and fled the scene.
On the 8th, the Paju Police Department announced that they have apprehended and are investigating Mr. A on charges including robbery and violations of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take action after an accident and refusal to undergo a breathalyzer test). Earlier, on the morning of the 7th around 9:40 a.m., Mr. A allegedly collided with the rear of a cargo truck while riding a motorcycle under the influence on a road in Yadang-dong, Paju. After the cargo truck driver reported the incident, Mr. A is accused of assaulting him and taking his mobile phone before fleeing.
When the police arrived after receiving the report, Mr. A had already fled. Based on nearby CCTV footage and witness statements, the police identified Mr. A and made an emergency arrest near his residence.
It was confirmed that Mr. A refused the police’s request for a breathalyzer test at the time of arrest. The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
