One of the '2024 First Half Best Autonomous Crime Prevention Teams' by Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency
Recognized for creating a safe neighborhood with twice-weekly night patrols and twice-monthly joint patrols
Jangan 1-dong Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that it has been selected as one of the 'Best Volunteer Crime Prevention Units for the First Half of 2024' organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency annually selects and awards volunteer crime prevention units in Seoul that excel in crime reporting, youth guidance, and joint patrols in vulnerable areas.
The Jangan 1-dong Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit was recognized for its contributions to preventing crime and creating a safe residential environment by conducting self-patrols late at night more than twice a week, joint patrols with police twice a month, and maintaining order at local events. It was selected as one of the 10 'Best Volunteer Crime Prevention Units for the First Half of the Year.'
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "We feel reassured knowing that you dedicate yourselves to patrolling even late at night for the safety of residents," and added, "We will actively support any necessary measures to ensure the safety of volunteer crime prevention members and the smooth performance of their roles."
