[Review] Does It Really Boost Dewy Glow?…Daiso's Sold-Out 'Wrapping Mask' That Outshines Liddle Shot

Last Month Wrapping Mask Sales Growth Rate 121% Compared to Previous Month

Daiso, known as a 'cosmetics hotspot,' has once again created a sold-out item. The star product is Medipeel's 'Extra Super9 Plus Water Glow Lifting Wrapping Mask,' launched at the end of May. As its long name suggests, it is a mask pack that gives the skin a water-glow effect. The wrapping mask sold out its initial batch within a week of release, and cumulative sales reached 460,000 units within a month. Last month’s sales of this product jumped 121% compared to the previous month, showing its continued popularity.

With high expectations, I opened the small rectangular box. The four packs inside resembled instant coffee packets, each individually wrapped. The product is priced at 3,000 won, making each pack 750 won. Considering that a single sheet mask usually costs over 1,000 won, the cost-effectiveness is definitely excellent.

Medipeel is the flagship brand of Skin Idea, which uses derma technology to create cosmetics. Medipeel first launched a cream-type wrapping mask last August. When the cream is spread over the entire face, it hardens to form a thin film like plastic wrap, allowing the skin to fully absorb the ingredients and produce a water-glow effect, which quickly gained word-of-mouth popularity. Since it does not require a sheet soaked with cosmetic ingredients, it is also considered an eco-friendly product. Up to June this year, Medipeel has sold 2 million wrapping masks through distribution channels.

The wrapping mask sold at Daiso is a newly released version with adjusted volume, container, and ingredients based on Medipeel’s existing product. The manufacturer is Korea Kolmar.

Pressing the outer packaging of the wrapping mask made the amount of cosmetic product feel small. However, when I squeezed it onto the back of my hand, more product came out than expected. It was enough to apply 2 to 3 times on the face. The product has a sticky texture and is blue in color. It has a citrus grapefruit scent.

About 15 minutes after applying the product, the cream began to harden from the edges of the face. After 20 to 30 minutes, a smooth wrap formed on the face. The wrap peeled off easily when pulled from one end. Thanks to the wrap full of cosmetic ingredients, the face felt moisturized.

However, it was difficult to be satisfied with immediate water-glow volume and lifting effects from just 'one use.' The sticker on the product’s surface emphasized the number '1,' but using it only once made it hard to expect a water-glow effect. After use, the skin even felt tight for 1 to 2 hours, requiring a mist spray.
