Osan City Opens Senior Cafe 'Shwim' at Hwaseong Osan Office of Education Branch

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province opened the senior cafe 'Shwim' Hwaseong-Osan Office of Education Branch on the 7th to support retirees' second chapter of life.

'Shwim' is a major project promoted by Osan City under the 8th elected administration as part of expanding market-type jobs. The Hwaseong-Osan Office of Education Branch, which opened on this day, is located on the first floor of the annex building of the Office of Education. This newly opened branch is a collaborative model promoted by the city and the Office of Education to enhance welfare for employees and improve senior welfare.

The cafe will be operated by 16 retirees. Previously, Osan City has operated six senior cafes including Segyo Branch, Health Center Branch, Cafe Pyeonghwa, Soriul Cafe, Cafe Sonsu, and Kkumdure Silver Cafe. With the opening of the Hwaseong-Osan Office of Education Branch, a total of 120 people are now active across seven cafes, the city explained.

At the opening ceremony, Osan Mayor Lee Kwon-jae said, "Cafe Shwim will be a place for lively and healthy senior life as well as a comfortable meeting place for Office of Education employees, visiting teachers, and civil petitioners." Mayor Lee added, "I hope the proud seniors of Osan, who cherish their second chapter of life, will operate the cafe with vitality and good health."

Meanwhile, Osan City is also running market-type senior job projects such as 'Sonsu,' which sells sewing products, and 'Sonmatchan,' which makes side dishes and lunch boxes. A total of 45 seniors participate in Sonsu and Sonmatchan.
