The K-pop Playground is a K-pop festival event held in connection with famous local festivals and tourist attractions to celebrate the '2024 Korea Visit Year.' It is operated alongside events such as the K-pop Random Play Dance Competition, K-content goods exhibition, and K-culture pop-up store.

This year, the K-pop Playground started in Chuncheon and was held in six locations including Busan, Daegu, and Boryeong. The goal is to hold a total of 10 events this year.

The K-pop Playground, which took its first step on May 31 at Legoland in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, was held in conjunction with the Chuncheon Mime Festival. On that day, Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended and personally learned the Hanbang dance from the dance crew 'Ambitious' and participated in the challenge. The second event, held on June 8 in connection with the Busan One Asia Festival (Busan Asiad Main Stadium), heated up the venue with passionate dances by participants with excellent dance skills alongside Busan’s mascot ‘Boogie,’ despite the bad weather.

The third event, held on June 15 in conjunction with the Korea Beauty Festival (Hongdae Red Road R1), operated a ‘K-Beauty Pop-up Store’ where visitors could experience K-beauty products and personal color tests along with the random play dance. Notably, K-pop idol Billy and famous dance crews Bebe and HolyBang visited the event, receiving explosive responses from participants and spectators.

Additionally, the fourth event, held on July 6 in conjunction with the Daegu Chimaek Festival (Daegu Duryu Park), played a role in boosting the atmosphere before the start of the Daegu Chimaek Festival, energizing the festival site. On July 20, the event was held in connection with the summer representative festival, the Boryeong Mud Festival (Daecheon Beach Mud Expo Square). Lastly, on August 3, it was held in conjunction with the Midsummer Night Cultural Festival (Haenam Gunmin Square), providing various sights and entertainment to local residents and festival visitors through diverse events centered on K-pop.

The upcoming K-pop Playground will be held on the 17th at Gyeonggijeon Square in Jeonju Hanok Village in conjunction with the Jeonju International Sori Festival, featuring a performance by the popular dance crew ‘Lady Bounce.’ On the 31st, it will be held at Bonghwangdae Square near Daereungwon in Gyeongju, in connection with Bonghwangdae Music Square, also featuring ‘Lady Bounce.’ On September 7, it will be held at Incheon Munhak Stadium in conjunction with the INK Concert, featuring ‘HolyBang.’

The final event, scheduled for September 28 in Seoul, will feature a random play dance involving foreign and on-site participants, a K-culture pop-up store, and the final stage where participants who demonstrated excellent dance skills in nine regions nationwide will compete.

Applications for the K-pop Playground Random Play Dance can be made in advance through the official event website, and participants can also register on-site via a simple QR code.
