The Daedeok Research and Development Special Zone Headquarters of the Korea Research Institute for Regional Development announced on the 7th that it will hold the "1st Daedeok Special Zone Research Institute Company Value-Up Open Networking (hereinafter referred to as Value-Up Networking)" at the Convergence Education Innovation Center of Chungnam National University on the 8th.
Value-Up Networking consists of an "Open Value-Up Special Lecture" introducing promising companies, a "Company Showcase" to discover cooperative partners through mutual exchange, and "Networking."
The Special Zone Foundation included expert invitation lectures in the Value-Up Networking program to guide solutions for the biggest challenges faced by research institute companies, such as attracting investment and financing. Attendees will also include industry-academia-research sectors, investors, and support organizations interested in collaborating with promising research institute companies within the Daedeok Special Zone.
The "Open Value-Up Special Lecture" will be delivered by Won Han-kyung, CEO of PlanH Ventures Co., Ltd., focusing on "Investment Attraction Strategies for Startup SMEs," covering topics related to investment attraction and financing.
The "Company Showcase" is a session to introduce research institute companies with promising technologies to related industry-academia-research sectors, AC/VC, and individual investors (such as angel investors). During this time, companies such as U&Tech Co., Ltd. (plasma technology), MetaBank Co., Ltd. (3D modeling), and ArtTelling Technology Co., Ltd. (metaverse) will have the opportunity to explain their technologies and business areas to on-site participants.
"Networking" is expected to be a process where participating research institute companies, enterprises, investors, and other innovation actors freely share opinions on business and technology and find cooperative partners that can mutually assist each other.
Jung Hee-kwon, Chairman of the Special Zone Foundation, said, "We hope that Value-Up Networking will provide an opportunity for early-stage research institute companies commercializing public technology to take a step forward," adding, "The Special Zone Foundation will continue to organize various networking opportunities on themes such as deep tech, market development, and global trends to support the growth of research institute companies."
Meanwhile, research institute companies refer to enterprises established within research and development special zones under the "Special Act on the Promotion of Research and Development Special Zones" with the purpose of directly commercializing public research technology. These companies operate by combining the technological capabilities of public research institutions with the capital and management know-how of enterprises.
