Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 7th that it has established and begun full-scale operation of "Disability-Friendly Hair Salons" to improve convenience for people with disabilities who have difficulty using hair salons.
The district formed a consultative body with the Seoul Metropolitan Southern Disabled Welfare Center and the Disability Convenience Improvement Technology Support Center, and signed business agreements with 15 hair salons in the district, starting operations this month.
The Dongjak-gu model of disability-friendly hair salons designates one salon per neighborhood, offering excellent accessibility as a differentiated strategy so that people with mobility impairments can use hair services near their homes. To lower the psychological barrier for people with disabilities, the salons display a disability-friendly hair salon sign and are equipped with portable ramps, shampoo stations, and low-noise hairdressing equipment.
The district's disability-friendly hair salons are one per neighborhood: Ijin Hair (Noryangjin 1-dong), Eomcheongnan Hair Salon (Noryangjin 2-dong), Lee Cheol Hair Kerker (Sangdo 1-dong), Yoon Hair (Sangdo 2-dong), Meorina-ra (Sangdo 3-dong), Salon de 90 (Sangdo 4-dong), Jiyoon Hair Mode (Heukseok-dong), White Hair Shop (Sadang 1-dong), J One Hair (Sadang 2-dong), Beauty Master Club (Sadang 3-dong), Hair Jun (Sadang 4-dong), Won Hair Salon (Sadang 5-dong), Ant Hair Shop (Daebang-dong), Lee Hoon ALL30000 Hair Salon (Sindaebang 1-dong), and Meoriga Hair (Sindaebang 2-dong).
People with severe disabilities registered as residents of Dongjak-gu can receive a monthly support of 10,000 KRW once a month to use hair services. For more details on usage, inquiries can be made at the local community service centers and the Disability Welfare Division.
Mayor Park Il-ha said, "With the operation of disability-friendly hair salons, we can provide stronger support to socially vulnerable groups who need a helping hand," adding, "We will continue to strive to ensure that people with disabilities can live comfortable and happy daily lives."
