Makers Fund Leads Series A Investment
Strengthening In-House Game Development Competitiveness with Funding
Hive's gaming subsidiary, Hive IM, announced on the 6th that it has secured $80 million (approximately 109.8 billion KRW) in Series A funding.
This investment round was led by Makers Fund, which continues to invest in innovative companies such as Global Interactive Entertainment, with participation from IMM Investment and its parent company, Hive.
Through this investment, Hive IM plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the global gaming market and diversify its game publishing and development sectors to expand its capabilities as a comprehensive game company.
The funds will be primarily used to enhance its publishing game portfolio and further strengthen its in-house game development capabilities. The company aims to showcase innovative games and expand its influence in the global market.
Hive IM entered the gaming market in 2021 by launching 'Rhythm Hive' and 'In the SEOM with BTS,' produced with BTS. Since then, it has rapidly expanded its publishing portfolio by signing publishing contracts for Makobil's 'OZ Rewrite' and Flint's 'Become the Star 2: Knights of Veda.'
In August 2023, Hive IM, together with its parent company Hive, invested 30 billion KRW in 'Aquatri' and 2 billion KRW in Action Square, the developer of 'Dungeon Stalkers,' further strengthening its influence in the market.
Jung Woo-yong, CEO of Hive IM, stated, "This large-scale investment is expected to be a significant turning point in strengthening Hive IM's competitiveness within the global gaming industry. Based on the support from Makers Fund, IMM Investment, and Hive, we will strive to pursue sustainable growth and innovation and solidify our position as a comprehensive game company."
