Osan-si Wins 'Excellence Award' Two Years in a Row at Manifesto Competition

Socially Isolated Household Support Public-Private Partnership Project Praised

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it recently received an Excellence Award at the '2024 National Basic Local Government Manifesto Best Practice Competition' hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.

In this year's competition, which involved 148 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, a total of 186 cases were presented across seven categories: ▲Job creation and improvement of employment environment ▲Mitigation of social inequality ▲Mitigation of economic inequality ▲Response to demographic changes ▲Climate and ecological environment ▲Revitalization of local culture ▲Strengthening of community.

At this year's competition, Osan City presented a case under the theme 'Public-Private Cooperation Escape from Isolation Project - TogetherOn HopeOn Connecting Hearts and Villages.' This project is a program that supports socially isolated households through the establishment of public-private cooperative governance.

The city explained that it provided various welfare services to 427 households by supporting the formation of care systems and networks in both public and private sectors. Notably, this program also received awards from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, including the Grand Prize in the 'Visiting Health and Welfare Service Provision' category and the Excellence Award in the 'Operation of Hope Welfare Support Group' category.

Lee Kwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "Following the achievement of the highest grade in the second year of the 8th elected term's nationwide basic local government pledge fulfillment and information disclosure evaluation, Osan is being recognized as a model city in various areas through this best practice competition. We will continue to pursue administration that focuses solely on the citizens."
