Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced on the 5th that it will conduct the 8th discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean from the 7th to the 25th of this month.
According to Yonhap News and local media, the amount of water to be discharged in this 8th round is the same as previous rounds, 7,800 tons.

TEPCO first discharged contaminated water into the ocean in August last year. So far, it has diluted and released about 55,000 tons of contaminated water into the sea in front of the Fukushima nuclear plant over seven occasions.
TEPCO plans to discharge approximately 54,600 tons of contaminated water in seven rounds during fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025). Last year, the discharge was carried out in four separate rounds.
