In the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, 2,557 stocks declined. This is the largest number of declining stocks in history.
The KOSPI closed at 2,441.55, down 234.64 points (8.77%) from the previous trading day.
On this day, there were no stocks hitting the lower limit on the KOSPI, but 924 stocks fell. On the other hand, only 10 stocks rose. Two stocks remained unchanged.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks plunged sharply. Samsung Electronics closed at 71,400 KRW, down 8,200 KRW (10.30%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix also fell 9.87%. Additionally, POSCO Holdings dropped 11.78%, and LG Chem fell 11.67%. KB Financial Group, Shinhan Financial Group, and Samsung C&T Corporation all declined by more than 7%. Samsung Biologics fell 2.31%, showing a relatively smaller decline.
The KOSDAQ closed at 691.28, down 88.05 points (11.30%) from the previous trading day.
On the KOSDAQ, CNH and XPLUS hit the lower limit, with 1,633 stocks declining. Twenty-three stocks rose, and two stocks remained unchanged.
Similar to the KOSPI, most of the top market capitalization stocks on the KOSDAQ also fell sharply. EcoPro BM closed at 164,900 KRW, down 21,000 KRW (11.30%) from the previous trading day. Samchundang Pharmaceutical plunged 14.99%. Alteogen, EcoPro, and Enchem all fell more than 11%.
