At a regular press briefing on the 5th, a police official said, "Most cases are handled by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, with some in local areas such as Gyeonggi, Busan, and Daegu," adding, "We plan to consult with the prosecution on the scope and targets of the investigation if necessary."

The National Police Agency has formed a 'Field Work Condition Assessment Team' consisting of about 20 members led by the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the police officer death cases. A police official explained, "We held the first meeting last week and conducted field surveys at four police stations over the weekend," adding, "This week, we will hold a second meeting to receive the analysis results and will promote improvement measures for continuous management."

At a meeting with reporters on the same day, National Police Commissioner Yoon Hee-geun addressed the recent consecutive deaths of police officers, stating, "There has been a significant weakening of personnel at crime prevention sites. The responsibilities handled by district police stations and patrol offices were excessive. That is why the Mobile Patrol Unit and Criminal Mobile Unit were established," adding, "It has been just under eight months now. There are pros and cons, but it is not right to say the organizational restructuring was wrong whenever an incident occurs."

Commissioner Yoon said, "I believe that going through major issues over the past two years has been an opportunity for the police to mature and develop to the next level," and added, "The police will face crises in the future as well, and I believe our response capabilities will improve compared to the past."
