As the heatwave continues, the number of heat-related illness cases is increasing in the Chungnam region.


According to the Chungnam Fire Department on the 5th, seven new heat-related patients were reported the previous day, bringing the cumulative total to 104. By type, there were 20 cases of heatstroke, 52 of heat exhaustion, 15 of heat cramps, and 17 of heat syncope.


With more than 40 cases occurring in just one week, caution is advised for outdoor activities.


Damage to livestock caused by the heatwave is also rising significantly.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' report on regional heatwave damage, 224 cases were reported in Chungnam, with 48,000 animals such as pigs and chickens dying. This is the second highest figure nationwide.


The province plans to operate an emergency room surveillance system for heat-related illnesses until September and monitor the situation in real time.


An official from the province stated, "Prolonged outdoor activities during the heatwave increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, which can lead to casualties," and urged, "Please follow the heatwave safety guidelines closely."


On this day, a heatwave warning was issued for all 15 cities and counties in Chungnam.
