Diverse Performances Held Against the Nightscape of Seocheon
The urban oasis '2024 Yeongju Siwon(ONE) Festival' concluded on the evening of the 4th with a closing performance, creating a cool scene of unity where Yeongju (city) became one.
The 'Hip Han Yeongju' performance, hosted by NewJeans-nim, marked the end of summer fun as both the audience and performers filled the festival grounds, jumping and enjoying the moment together.
The grand finale, a fireworks show, lit up the summer night sky with vibrant colors, drawing gasps of awe from the crowd.
Held over nine days from July 27 to August 4 amid a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, this year's festival offered unforgettable summer memories for vacationers.
From the opening day, the Munjeong Riverside area, where the festival was held, was packed early with citizens and tourists. Families enjoyed their time as parents relaxed in the shade, watching their children play in the water.
During the day, the festival grounds featured unique experience content never seen before, including a 57-meter-long boating ride, a buoy-crossing challenge, a water slide attraction mission, and a water gun party. Crowds lined up to cool off at the Siwon Adventure Zone, which included a pool and air bounce facilities.
As the sun set, the festival transformed into a concert venue. The opening celebration featured Haha & Skull and No Brain, followed by a sunset gugak concert, beer busking, the Yeongju Seocheon Riverside Song Festival, an EDM party, and more. These diverse performances, harmonizing with the beautiful Seocheon nightscape, offered a unique sense of enjoyment every night.
Festival-goers spent time with family and friends in the dining zone, where food trucks and food booths lined up, enjoying performances together.
The 2024 Yeongju Siwon Festival was designed so that citizens and tourists could enjoy a vacation in the city. With a variety of water play experiences for children and spectacular performances lighting up the summer nights, the festival delivered a refreshing summer to all participants.
Kwon Jiseon (age 40, Suseong-gu, Daegu) said, "I came to my parents' house for summer vacation, and since the festival was held nearby by the riverside, I brought my two daughters for the third time. Thanks to the festival, we had a cool and enjoyable holiday."
Park Namseo, Mayor of Yeongju, stated, "I hope everyone who participated in the first-ever Siwon Festival this year takes home precious memories," and added, "We will carefully review and improve the event so that it can become a leading summer festival where citizens and tourists can relax, watch, and enjoy to their hearts' content."
