Smoke erupted from a BMW hybrid car parked on the basement first floor of a cultural center in Mapo-gu, Seoul, causing about 100 citizens to evacuate in a commotion.

On the 4th, fire authorities announced that at 4:47 p.m. that day, smoke was detected from a BMW hybrid vehicle parked in the underground parking lot of a cultural center in Mapo-gu.

Approximately 100 citizens inside the building immediately evacuated, and no casualties were reported.

A fire official stated, "Smoke was coming from the rear seat of the vehicle, but the fire did not spread," and added, "There were no abnormalities in the engine or battery."

The fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.

Previously, on the 9th of last month at 6:04 p.m., a fire also broke out in a BMW passenger car parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment in Songdo International City, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Although the engine room and other parts were burned, the fire was extinguished early, and fortunately, there were no casualties.
