Composed of Yoon Jisoo and Jeon Hayoung (both from Seoul City Hall), Choi Sebin (Jeonnam Provincial Office), and Jeon Eunhye (Incheon Jung-gu Office), the South Korean women's sabre team defeated the host nation and world No. 1 France 45-36 in the semifinals of the 2024 Paris Olympic team event held on the 3rd at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, advancing to the finals.

Currently ranked 4th in the world as a team, this is the first time South Korea has reached the finals in the Olympic women's sabre team event. Moreover, South Korea showcased an incredible performance by defeating France, the host nation and world No. 1, by a remarkable 9-point margin.

Until now, the best achievement of the South Korean team was winning the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021.

On this day, South Korea competed in the order of Jeon Hayoung - Choi Sebin - Yoon Jisoo - Choi Sebin - Jeon Hayoung - Jeon Eunhye - Choi Sebin - Jeon Eunhye - Jeon Hayoung.

South Korea's momentum was maintained in the fourth bout as well. Choi Sebin completely controlled her opponent and reached 20 points first. Although Jeon Hayoung conceded 7 points consecutively in the fifth bout, narrowing the score to 25-18, Jeon Eunhye, who was substituted in, quickly widened the point gap with her swift moves.

In the eighth bout, Jeon Eunhye seemed shaken after conceding 5 consecutive points early to Manon Brunet, but she regained her focus and scored 5 points in a row, turning the tide of the match.

The final fencer, Jeon Hayoung, maintained the momentum, overcame the opponent's persistent chase, and reached 45 points first to secure the victory.

With remarkable concentration leading to the finals, South Korea will face Ukraine for the gold medal in the final match at 3 a.m. Korean time on the 4th.
