Lee: "I Will Establish a Bridgehead for Regime Change"
Lee Won-taek, a member of the National Assembly representing Gunsan-si, Gimje-si, and Buan-gun in Jeonbuk, was elected as the new chairman of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea. The term of the new provincial party chairman is two years, starting from this day until the next regular provincial party member convention.

On the afternoon of the 3rd, the Jeonbuk Provincial Party of the Democratic Party held the 1st regular national party member convention at Wonkwang University Cultural and Sports Center, where Assemblyman Lee was elected as the provincial party chairman. The Jeonbuk Provincial Party conducted a vote of approval and disapproval among party members with voting rights for Assemblyman Lee, who was the sole candidate. In the online approval vote held the previous day, Assemblyman Lee received 21,620 votes in favor (86.37%) out of a total of 25,263 valid votes.
Assemblyman Lee stated, "I will strive to lead the Democratic Party of Jeonbuk to victory in the upcoming local elections together with the residents and party members, and to establish a foothold for regime change." He added, "I will do my best to demonstrate the strength of Honam, which has protected the Republic of Korea throughout the history of the democratization movement."
