Changnyeong County Enrolls in 'Citizen Safety Insurance' for Various Disaster and Accident Support

Covers 21 Items Including Natural Disaster Death and Agricultural Machinery Injury Death

Changnyeong County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 2nd that it has enrolled in a County Residents' Safety Insurance to protect residents who suffer damages from unexpected disasters and accidents.


The 'County Residents' Safety Insurance' has been in effect since 2016, and any resident with an address in Changnyeong County (including registered foreign nationals) is eligible for benefits without any separate enrollment procedure.

The coverage includes 21 items such as: ▲Death or disability due to agricultural machinery accidents ▲Death from natural disasters (including sunstroke, heatstroke, and hypothermia) ▲Death or disability from explosion, fire, or collapse ▲Death or disability from accidents while using public transportation ▲Drowning accidents and death, among others. The insurance is provided in addition to any private insurance or disaster relief funds the individual may have.


This year, new coverage items have been added, including: ▲Diagnosis of heat-related illness ▲Death from dog bite accidents ▲Disability from dog bite accidents. In addition, the coverage amounts for ▲Death from explosion, fire, or collapse (30 million KRW) ▲Disability from explosion, fire, or collapse (30 million KRW) ▲Disability from agricultural machinery accidents (40 million KRW) have been increased.


Insurance claims can be made within three years from the date of the accident. Residents who suffer an accident covered by the policy can submit the required documentation to the Korea Local Finance Association to file a claim.


County Governor Sung Nakin stated, "I hope the County Residents' Safety Insurance will provide at least some help to those affected by unexpected disasters and accidents," and added, "We will continue to do our best to ensure the safety of our residents."
