Suspected of Stealing 100 Million Won from 2 ATMs and Fleeing
"Considering Request for Arrest Warrant"
An employee of a security company who stole money from an ATM he managed and fled was caught by the police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 1st that they apprehended a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, an employee of a well-known security company, who stole over 100 million won in cash from an ATM.
Mr. A is accused of stealing over 100 million won in cash from two ATMs located in Yeongdeungpo-gu in the early morning of the 23rd of last month (charge: nighttime trespassing and theft of a building). It is known that the ATM of the bank was under the security duties of the company to which Mr. A belongs.
The police tracked Mr. A’s movements through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) and arrested him at his hideout in Gangwon Province around 3:40 p.m. on the same day.
The police plan to investigate the reason and circumstances of the crime with Mr. A and then consider applying for an arrest warrant.
