Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon lamented that "the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's reckless actions have gone too far" in response to Broadcasting and Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jin-sook replacing the entire board of directors of public broadcasters.
On the 1st, Governor Kim posted on his social media, questioning, "Is this why Lee Jin-sook was appointed?" He criticized, "Less than half a day after Lee Jin-sook was appointed as the chairperson of the Broadcasting and Communications Commission, she approved the appointment of the MBC Visangjin board and the KBS board."
He added, "It was as if a military operation was carried out, swiftly replacing the public broadcasting boards like lightning," and said, "This is a confession within half a day as to why it had to be Lee Jin-sook."
Furthermore, he warned, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration's reckless rush, solely obsessed with seizing control of broadcasting, has gone beyond limits," and stated, "The illegality of the 'two-person system' Broadcasting and Communications Commission must be revealed, and this personnel decision must be reversed. Not a single day should be delayed."
Meanwhile, Chairperson Lee Jin-sook, along with Vice Chairperson Kim Tae-gyu, who were appointed the day before, immediately convened a full meeting and approved the recommendation of seven pro-government directors for KBS, as well as the appointment of six pro-government directors and one auditor for MBC's major shareholder, the Broadcasting Culture Promotion Foundation.
Regarding the opposition party's announcement of a planned impeachment motion, Chairperson Lee stated, "Let's wait and see for a while."
