Assemblyman Choi Ki-chan: "Housing Space Committee to be a Standing Committee Overseeing Major Seoul Redevelopment, Reconstruction, and Public Housing Projects Closely Related to Geumcheon-gu Local Issues"
Choi Ki-chan, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party, Geumcheon 2), was appointed as a member of the 11th Seoul Metropolitan Council Housing and Space Committee at the 325th Seoul Metropolitan Council extraordinary session held on the 29th of last month.
The Housing and Space Committee is a standing committee responsible for important tasks that directly and indirectly affect citizens' lives, such as managing the demand and supply of public and quasi-public rental housing and sale housing in Seoul, as well as addressing employment issues.
Currently, various housing maintenance projects such as reconstruction and redevelopment are actively underway in Geumcheon-gu, and it is known that Councilor Choi Ki-chan hoped to join the Housing and Space Committee in the latter half of the term following his service on the Health and Welfare Committee in the first half, in order to resolve local issues.
Regarding the direction of his legislative activities in the latter half of the term, Councilor Choi Ki-chan stated, “The Housing and Space Committee oversees the duties of the Housing Policy Office, Future Space Planning Office, Digital Policy Office, Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, and Seoul Digital Foundation. It handles matters related to comprehensive planning and coordination of Seoul’s housing administration, construction and supply of public and rental housing, promotion of housing redevelopment and reconstruction, and improvement of residential environments. Therefore, I plan to prioritize regional development and the interests of local residents in my legislative activities during the latter half of the term.”
Finally, Councilor Choi Ki-chan said, “Since the housing sector is closely connected to public development issues as well as the property rights and interests of individual local residents, I will do my best to listen to the opinions of local residents through field-centered legislative activities and reflect them in city administration.”
