"Whether Companies Fail or Not, Whether Future Generations Repay or Not, It's About Winning Favor"
"Is This the Lee Jae-myung Style 'Meoksanism' That Supposedly Supports People's Livelihood?"
Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the opposition party's push to pass the Yellow Envelope Act and the nationwide 250,000 won support law, calling them "laws that ruin the economy."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 1st, Floor Leader Choo said, "The Democratic Party of Korea is said to forcibly pass the illegal strike promotion law and the cash distribution law worth more than 13 trillion won in the plenary session today. These two bills are clearly unconstitutional anti-market, anti-business, and anti-economy evil laws," he criticized.
Floor Leader Choo said, "According to the illegal strike promotion law that the Democratic Party is trying to forcibly pass, not only working conditions but all matters related to corporate management can become targets of strikes," adding, "The original contractor will have to negotiate with hundreds or thousands of subcontractor unions." He continued, "Moreover, even people who are not workers can enter into negotiations," emphasizing, "It is practically telling business owners not to run their businesses but to respond to strikes 365 days a year."
He said, "If this law passes, indiscriminate labor disputes and illegal strikes will force companies to relocate overseas or shrink investment and business, and the biggest victims will be workers whose jobs are threatened and future generations," adding, "How desperate must it be for the six major economic organizations to come to the National Assembly and actively request to block the illegal strike promotion law?"
Furthermore, Floor Leader Choo said, "What about the cash distribution law? Distributing 13 trillion won in cash will make prices and interest rates more unstable and worsen the hardships of people's livelihoods," and "The Democratic Party may gain immediate favor with sweet candy-coated cash distribution, but ultimately it is a populist evil law that places a heavy burden on people's livelihoods and national finances." He continued, "(The cash distribution law) clearly has the potential to be unconstitutional as it severely infringes on the government's budget formulation authority stipulated in the Constitution," and criticized, "Whether companies go bankrupt or not, let's do as the militant unions want. Whether future generations repay or not, let's borrow money first to gain favor. Is this the Lee Jae-myung-style populism that supposedly helps people make a living?"
Floor Leader Choo said, "The public also knows well that these bills are not right," and "The People Power Party will do its best to block the illegal strike promotion law and the cash distribution law." The Democratic Party plans to submit the Yellow Envelope Act and the 250,000 won support law to the plenary session for passage on the same day. The People Power Party intends to counter with unlimited debate if the Democratic Party forcibly pushes through the passage of the two bills.
