As part of the project, Gachon University will establish a Department of Next-Generation Semiconductor in its graduate school and will admit its first new students in March next year. Recruitment of new students will begin in the second half of this year. Gachon University has developed a practical education curriculum based on business demand by gathering opinions from semiconductor field experts and conducting a curriculum demand survey targeting participating companies. The program will operate two tracks: Semiconductor Design and Semiconductor Engineering majors.

Students will complete a total of 24 credits by taking 9 credits of customized major courses each in the first and second semesters, plus 3 credits of on-site corporate training during the summer and winter vacations. In the final third semester, students will complete 6 credits through corporate and R&D projects as part of the curriculum design.

Admitted students will receive full tuition support through scholarships and other means for the first and second semesters, along with a living allowance of up to 1 million KRW per month. In the third semester, students will receive a salary from the contracted company and 50% tuition support. Through this customized education, students will earn a master's degree in just three semesters (one and a half years).

Gachon University has signed agreements with 16 mid-sized semiconductor companies and excellent small and medium enterprises with high growth potential, and is in the process of signing agreements with 34 companies. Through this, students jointly selected by the university and companies will be supplied to partner companies via customized education based on corporate demand and industry-academia joint research. The plan is to produce 260 master's-level high-level talents by 2030.

President Lee Gil-yeo stated, "Gachon University has experience operating various types of contract departments from undergraduate to graduate levels by establishing educational infrastructure such as practical education programs based on corporate needs analysis." He added, "We will actively utilize the strengths of the Ministry of Education's semiconductor-specialized university and foster customized high-level talent in the semiconductor field through close cooperation with companies."
