According to a report by Law Times on the 31st, Chairman Chey has additionally appointed Yulchon attorneys Lee Jae-geun (51, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 28), Min Cheol-gi (50, class 29), Kim Seong-woo (55, class 31), and Lee Seung-ho (49, class 31). It is known that Chairman Chey's side held presentations (PT) from several major law firms, including Yulchon, and reviewed draft statements of appeal to form a new legal team for the final appeal.

Before appointing Yulchon, Chairman Chey's side first selected former Seoul High Court presiding judge Hong Seung-myeon (60, class 18), who previously served as senior research judge at the Supreme Court and director of the Judicial Support Office at the Court Administration, as a member of the final appeal legal team earlier this month. Having retired honorably in February and left the court, he opened a law office as an attorney in March.

The newly joined Yulchon attorneys, like former presiding judge Hong, are known to be well-versed in Supreme Court final appeal litigation and family law cases. Attorneys Lee Jae-geun, Min Cheol-gi, and Lee Seung-ho, all former presiding judges, have experience as Supreme Court judicial researchers. Attorney Kim Seong-woo is a former specialist judge in family and juvenile cases at the Seoul Family Court and is an expert in family and guardianship law. He handled the limited guardianship case of the late Shin Kyuk-ho, honorary chairman of Lotte Group, in 2015 and planned the establishment of the Seoul Family Court Guardianship Center in 2017.

Meanwhile, with Yulchon newly joining Chairman Chey Tae-won's legal team, Yulchon and former presiding judge Hong will jointly represent the corporate head side in a second major family law lawsuit involving a corporate chairman. Since February last year, Yulchon has been representing Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group, who is engaged in litigation with his wife Kim Young-sik and others over the inheritance of the late Koo Bon-moo, former chairman of LG Group. Former presiding judge Hong was additionally appointed to Chairman Koo's legal team in April.
