Secured 500 Million KRW for Aging Water Supply Pipes in First Half of This Year
Full Effort to Secure Budget for Citizen Safety and Disaster Prevention
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province is making every effort to secure special grants to improve disaster safety and living environments.
According to Osan City on the 31st, the total amount of special grants and rapid administration-related incentives secured from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety over the past two years since the launch of the 8th local government is 3.2 billion KRW as of this date.
Special grants are funds allocated separately from general grants to cover unexpected financial demands such as special circumstances of local governments or changes in local financial conditions. They are granted after review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety upon application by local governments.

The special grants received by the city in the first half of this year amount to a total of 500 million KRW, including ▲replacement of aging water supply and drainage pipelines (300 million KRW) and ▲replacement of the Osancheon automatic voice alarm system (200 million KRW).
Since his inauguration, Mayor Lee Gwon-jae of Osan has devoted efforts to securing special grants through communication with citizens. To this end, he has continuously held meetings with Minister Lee Sang-min and other officials from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
In fact, since the 8th local government, Osan City has secured special grants for improving living infrastructure such as ▲facility improvement construction of Osaek Market and Gwoldong public parking lots (400 million KRW) and ▲maintenance of the replacement gymnasium at Osaek Sports and Culture Center (200 million KRW). It has also consecutively obtained budgets related to citizen safety, including ▲installation of a canopy on the pedestrian overpass in front of Sammi Elementary School (200 million KRW), ▲installation of protective fences in school zones (125 million KRW), and ▲installation of intelligent CCTV for living crime prevention (500 million KRW).
In particular, to prevent disasters such as floods, the city secured project funds for ▲replacement of the disaster information electronic display near Osan Sports Complex (400 million KRW), ▲vehicle blocking facilities at the entrance to Osancheon (450 million KRW), and ▲blocking facilities at Tapdong Bridge and Namchon Underpass entrances (325 million KRW).
Mayor Lee said, "Since securing national and provincial budgets is important to promote various pending projects, I will always do my best in my role as a sales mayor."
