Uljin County Focuses on Developing Fisheries Resources on the East Coast Uljin County is making every effort to develop marine resources along the East Coast.

Gangdodari, a species in the flatfish family, grows to about 40 cm in total length and inhabits the bottom layer of coastal waters at depths of around 150 meters. On the east coast of Korea, it is a representative high-value species and is in high demand as a popular sashimi fish due to its high protein content. It can grow up to 90 cm and is also a favorite among anglers visiting the sea off Uljin.

Jopibollak is one of Korea's representative sashimi fish, known for its rapid growth and firm flesh, making it highly popular for raw consumption. It is also rich in anti-amino acids, which are effective in improving liver function and relieving fatigue, making it a preferred ingredient for spicy fish stew and grilled dishes compared to other fish species.

County Governor Son Byeongbok said, "Considering that Gangdodari and Jopibollak inhabit coastal areas and are representative sashimi fish in Korea, they are expected to become major sources of income for coastal fisheries and generate tourism revenue from anglers. We will continue to carry out release projects to increase the income of fishermen and fishing villages in the future."
