Taxi Shortage Resolved During Jangma Season... Kakao T Ride Success Rate Rises to 92%

Boarding Success Rate Increases by 12.6 Percentage Points During Jangma Season

The boarding success rate refers to the percentage of passengers who attempted to call a taxi and actually boarded and completed the ride. While the number of operating taxis decreases during the monsoon season and the number of passengers increases, in 2022, more than 20 out of every 100 users who called a taxi had difficulty getting one, but this year, that number dropped to fewer than 10.

The improvement is even more pronounced when comparing the day with the lowest taxi boarding success rate during the monsoon season. On June 30, 2022, the day users had the most difficulty catching a taxi, only 66.5% of calling passengers succeeded in getting a taxi. In contrast, this year, even on the most difficult day to catch a taxi (June 29), the boarding success rate reached 85.1%.

Kakao Mobility increased the boarding success rate by trying various technologies that reduce taxi vacancy rates and minimize the time required for dispatch and boarding. ▲'Navigation-based technologies' such as multi-origin route finding and estimated time of arrival (ETA), and ▲'real-time demand maps' that predict and inform areas with many taxi passengers based on platform data and deep learning technology contribute to improving dispatch efficiency.

Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, "We are striving to create a platform that users can always trust and use whenever they need to move through big data analysis and platform technology advancement," adding, "We will continue to make new attempts for users’ fast and safe mobility."
