Busan Port Authority Improves Road Surface at Busan New Port Samgeori Intersection

Formation of a Consultative Body with Relevant Agencies for Traffic Accident Prevention

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) has carried out road surface improvement work in the area of the busy Sinhang Samgeori intersection in order to improve traffic flow and prevent accidents on the approach road to Busan New Port.

Color (pink) guide lines were installed to help drivers exiting from New Port toward the Gaju Tunnel easily recognize the lanes, and the stop lines, which had become worn due to frequent traffic, were repainted.

This road surface improvement project is the first outcome of the 'New Port Gangseo-gu Regional Traffic Accident Reduction Council,' which selected and improved areas with a high risk of accidents after discussions.

In May, BPA formed a traffic accident reduction council with related organizations such as the Busan Port Construction Office, Gangseo Fire Station, and Gangseo Police Station to identify risk factors for accidents in the New Port area and discuss improvement measures.

BPA is also continuously communicating with Cargo Solidarity, an association of container truck drivers using New Port, to gather feedback from the field and reflect it in discussions.

Hong Sungjun, Head of Operations at BPA, said, "We will closely communicate and cooperate with related organizations to expand safety facilities and continuously carry out guidance activities such as campaigns for the traffic safety of Busan New Port."
