Gwangjin-gu Operates Free Legal Consultation 'Gwangjin Lopeon' for Youth

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) operates ‘Gwangjin LoFun,’ a 1:1 free legal consultation service for young adults who are in the early stages of their careers.

‘Gwangjin LoFun’ is a portmanteau of law and fun. It was established to help young people who face significant financial burdens when seeking legal advice. This service is specialized for the youth, separate from the general legal consultations provided by the district office.

It covers various legal issues including civil, administrative, family, and criminal law. With the assistance of lawyers from Sejong Law Firm, it aims to find legal solutions to resolve conflicts amicably. If high-risk cases are identified during consultations, systematic support will be provided by linking with youth programs promoted by Gwangjin-gu and Seoul City.

The consultation office operates on the last Monday of every month. Each session lasts 30 minutes per person based on prior applications, and consultations via phone or email are also available. Ten people are recruited per session, and the service is provided free of charge.

The target audience is young adults residing or living within the Gwangjin-gu area. Applications can be made every month during the third week through the Gwangjin-gu Youth Portal or the official Instagram of Seoul Youth Center Gwangjin. Selected applicants should visit ‘Seoul Youth Center Gwangjin (245 Neungdong-ro)’ at the appointed time.

The first session was held on the 29th of last month. One young participant shared, “Legal terms were difficult and I didn’t know where to get help, but receiving consultation from a professional lawyer made me feel much more at ease and comforted.”

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We started free legal consultations to help solve various concerns young people face in society, from rental fraud to debt issues,” adding, “We will be a strong supporter so that young people living in these challenging times can continue to pursue their dreams.”
