Conditional Approval by Ministry of the Interior and Safety Central Investment Review
39.8 Billion KRW Invested, Completion Targeted for 2028
The Daegaya-eup Complex Community Center construction project, a long-awaited initiative of Goryeong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol), passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in July 2024, subject to conditions.
With this, the public office construction project, which will improve the quality of life and provide convenience for local residents, will gain momentum and be promoted in earnest.
The current Daegaya-eup Office, built in 1961 and expanded in 1983, is outdated and located on a small site, making it difficult to accommodate multiple functions, so relocation is underway.
To relocate the office, a feasibility study for the relocation of the Daegaya-eup Office building was conducted in September 2022. After gathering residents' opinions (four public briefings and opinion hearings), a site selection committee was held in February 2023, designating the Heonmun-ri area as a regional candidate site, and in October of the same year, it was finalized as the chosen location.
To build the public office on the selected site, the procedures for the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, consultation with North Gyeongsang Province, and the release of the agricultural promotion zone have been completed. The county management plan (public office) decision (amendment) is scheduled to be announced in September this year.
In addition, a design competition for the building will be held in November this year to select the winning design, and efforts will be accelerated to complete the project by 2028.
The Daegaya-eup Complex Community Center will be constructed with one basement floor and four above-ground floors. It will house the Daegaya-eup Office, an early childhood education center, a family community space, a job center, a youth shelter, and a youth education room. The plan is to create a complex of living SOC (Social Overhead Capital) facilities using the Daegaya-eup rural center revitalization project and the local extinction response fund. The total project cost, including land acquisition, is expected to be 39.8 billion KRW.
Once the Daegaya-eup Complex Community Center is completed, it is expected to resolve residents' inconveniences caused by a lack of convenience and auxiliary facilities, and to meet the diverse needs of residents. It is also anticipated to become a landmark of Goryeong-gun, promoting urban expansion in Daegaya-eup and revitalizing the local economy.
