Tourists Enter the Mudflat and Catch with Bare Hands
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that the 'Gaemaegi Experience' will be held on the mudflats in front of Cheongyong Fishing Village located in Jindo-eup on the 3rd of next month.
Gaemaegi is a traditional fishing method using tidal currents, where nets are set up on the mudflats so that fish entering with the rising tide are trapped when the tide recedes.

The nets on the exposed mudflats mainly catch various fish such as mullet, sea bass, and sea bream, and at this time, experience tourists enter the mudflats and catch fish with their bare hands.
The experience fee is 20,000 KRW for adults and 5,000 KRW for children, and the amount will be used as a development fund for the fishing village.
Entry to the mudflats for the Gaemaegi experience is scheduled to begin at 4 PM, and the entry time may be adjusted depending on the water level and other on-site conditions on the day.
A county official said, “We recommend Gaemaegi, a unique experience you will never forget with your beloved family and lovers at the clean sea area Treasure Island during the vacation season.”
