Disaster Safety Awareness Assessment and Customized Safety Education for All Residents
Step-by-Step Quiz Solving Followed by Explanations Provided
"Is it better to tape an X on the window for typhoon preparedness, or is it more effective to apply tape between the window frame and the window?"
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 30th that it will conduct a mobile disaster safety diagnosis education for all residents of Yongsan-gu until October this year.
This is intended to raise residents' awareness and vigilance about disasters as the causes of disasters become more complex and diverse and their scale increases. The diagnosis and education are structured as quizzes so that individuals can check their level of disaster safety awareness and the correct actions to take in various situations at once.
The diagnosis items cover three fields and 7 to 15 areas: natural disasters such as typhoons, strong winds, heavy snow, cold waves, and earthquakes; social disasters such as fires, collapses, passenger ships, traffic, and infectious diseases; and daily safety such as electricity, elevators, gas, and outdoor activities.
The education is organized into three stages: basic diagnosis (15 true/false questions), applied diagnosis (15 two-choice questions), and advanced diagnosis (60 four-choice questions). Each question provides explanations to help understand the correct safety rules. Especially in the advanced diagnosis, customized video lectures can also be viewed.
The diagnosis results will be reviewed by the age group of the participants and safety vulnerability areas by disaster type, and changes in residents' awareness will be analyzed to be used as basic data for future district disaster safety projects.
All residents can access the disaster safety diagnosis and education by scanning the QR code in promotional materials. The district is promoting offline publicity at bus stops, restaurants, cafes, and online promotion using the "School e-Alimi" platform to encourage wide participation.
District Mayor Park Hee-young stated, "We will continue to prioritize residents' safety and promote related projects."
