On the 28th (local time), at the Ch?teauroux Shooting Center in France, Lee scored a total of 197.9 points to finish 4th in the men's 10m air pistol individual final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Following his silver medal at last year's Hangzhou Asian Games, expectations were high for him to medal on the Olympic stage, but he missed out. The last gold medal for Korea in this event was won by Jin Jong-oh at the 2012 London Olympics.
The 10m air pistol final started with 8 shooters each firing 10 shots, with a maximum score of 10.9 points per shot. After that, the shooters fired two shots at a time, with the lowest-scoring shooter eliminated one by one. Lee advanced to the final ranked 4th in the qualification round with 580 points and placed 6th in the individual 10-shot stage. He hoped for a comeback in the final duel of two shots each but lacked the finishing strength.
Lee Won-ho is a ‘human victory hero.’ He is originally right-handed. However, during high school, he suddenly developed an unexplained tremor in his arm and began shooting with his left hand. After relentless effort, he has now become proficient in using his left hand. Shewei (China) won the gold medal with 240.9 points. Federico Nilo Maldini took silver with 240 points, and Paolo Mona (both from Italy) earned the bronze with 218.6 points.
