Ulsan Transformer Factory Expansion to Be Completed This Month
Expected Annual Sales Increase of 220 Billion Won
HD Hyundai Electric announced on the 28th that it held a completion ceremony for a transformer-specialized storage facility measuring 12,690㎡ (approximately 3,800 pyeong) at its North American production subsidiary located in Alabama, USA, capable of storing 60 finished transformers. With this expansion, the company can now produce additional transformers in the assembly area that previously stored finished products, reducing costs associated with transporting and storing finished products at external locations.
At the completion ceremony held on the 26th (local time), Cho Seok, President of HD Hyundai Electric, stated, "By constructing a dedicated transformer storage facility, we have improved the product storage environment and quality standards, and maximized productivity. We will flexibly respond to the rapidly increasing global transformer demand to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen competitiveness."

The Ulsan transformer plant is also being expanded. HD Hyundai Electric plans to complete layout modification work this month to improve the production process efficiency of its first transformer production facility, the 300kV plant. Additionally, the construction of a new core factory utilizing idle land within the Ulsan plant is expected to be completed by October.
HD Hyundai Electric stated, "Once the expansions of the Alabama and Ulsan plants are completed, an annual sales increase of approximately 220 billion KRW is expected." The International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that global electricity demand will increase by 24% by 2030 compared to 2021. In the United States, demand for electrical equipment is surging due to the construction of renewable energy power plants and power grid replacements.
HD Hyundai Electric also plans to establish a low- and medium-voltage circuit breaker factory in Cheongju, Chungbuk. This factory is scheduled for completion in 2025, with production expected to approximately double by 2030.
