Songpa-gu Hosts Youth Artists' Curated Exhibition 'Summer Memories' Cultural Experimental Space 'Hosoo'

As the greenery deepens in summer, Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will hold a youth artist curated exhibition, "Summer Memories," at the Cultural Experiment Space Hosu (256 Songpanaru-gil) from July 30 to September 1.

The district planned the exhibition with the seasonal theme "Summer Memories," taking advantage of the charm of the exhibition space where visitors can enjoy the fresh waterside atmosphere through the large windows. Among the works of emerging young artists active mainly in Songpa-gu?▲Munisunny (Seo Yoo-sun), ▲Lee Young-sun, ▲Lee Jae-hee, ▲Lee Hae-na, and ▲Lee Hye-in?55 pieces that evoke summer memories were selected.

You can experience the unique artistic worlds of five artists expressed in diverse media, from distinct pigments like acrylic gouache and traditional Korean painting to digital drawing and installation art. The artists’ "Summer Memories" are reflected in lush nature, flora and fauna, rippling water surfaces, and street scenes. Enjoy the exhibition while sharing the artists’ daily lives and emotions, and savor the festival of summer. Creating new summer memories is an added bonus.

In connection with the exhibition, an Oriental painting experience program will be held every Friday for three weeks starting August 16. Under the guidance of artist Lee Hye-in, participants can depict animals and landscapes of Seokchon Lake on traditional Korean paper (hanji). Pre-registration is available on the “Seoul Public Service Reservation” website, and a nominal material fee applies.

Additionally, to provide children on summer vacation with opportunities to experience culture and arts, the exhibition is linked with children’s programs. Coordinated with the “Songpa-gu Museum Outing” exhibition experience programs held at seven local museums each vacation, this creates a chance for a wider age range to visit the exhibition.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “The ‘Cultural Experiment Space Hosu’ is the optimal place to appreciate the beautiful, seasonally changing scenery of Seokchon Lake alongside artworks.” He added, “We hope many people will visit to comfortably enjoy the lush waterside atmosphere and artworks, and feel the nostalgia of ‘Summer Memories.’”
