President Yoon Suk-yeol sent congratulatory and encouraging messages to the national athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics on the 27th.

In a congratulatory message on Facebook that day, President Yoon said, "Just now, the mixed team of Geum Ji-hyun and Park Ha-jun won the silver medal in the 10m air rifle event," adding, "This is our country's first medal at the Paris Olympics and the first medal in the air rifle event in 24 years. You all worked really hard."

He also said, "The South Korean women's handball national team fought well against the strong German team," and added, "The fighting spirit that overturned a 4-goal deficit and succeeded in taking the lead 22 seconds before the end early yesterday morning was exactly like the 2004 'Forever the Moment'." He continued, "The Ganggangsullae ceremony shown by all the players gathered after the victory deeply moved me and all the people of South Korea."

President Yoon stated, "The challenges of the national athletes who transcend limits will continue," and said, "I will cheer together with the people with one heart until the end."

He then added, "To the 143 members of the South Korean delegation participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and to the coaches, fighting!"

On this day, Geum Ji-hyun and Park Ha-jun brought the first medal to the Korean delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The two athletes lost 12-16 in set points to Cheng Lihao and Huang Weiting (China) in the gold medal match of the 10m air rifle mixed event held at the Ch?teauroux Shooting Centre in France on the 27th (local time). Korean shooting has raised expectations by winning a silver medal from the very first event in Paris.

Geum Ji-hyun and Park Ha-jun will compete in the men's and women's individual 10m air rifle events on the 28th, aiming for more medals.
