Domestic Terminal: 'Busanmaji Garden' and 'Ikki Gallery', International Terminal Theme Gardens: 'Film Busan' and 'Wave Busan'
Improved indoor air quality, providing a pleasant and beautiful smart green cultural space for airport users
Busan City has invested 500 million KRW to create an 'indoor garden' at Gimhae International Airport, the city's representative public facility.
At the domestic arrivals hall of Gimhae International Airport, the 'Busan Welcome Garden' has been established, while the departure lounge now features the 'Moss Gallery' and an eco-friendly rest area. In the international arrivals hall, exhibition-style themed gardens symbolizing Busan, named 'Film Busan' and 'Wave Busan', have each been created.
The 'Busan Welcome Garden' is a vertical garden that implements 'green smart technology' by combining plants known for their healing and relaxing effects with automated plant management systems.
The 'Moss Gallery' has been designed with the concept of a small botanical garden, aiming to improve the enclosed indoor environment and provide a space for visitors to relax and rejuvenate both physically and mentally.
In particular, 'Film Busan' in the international arrivals hall symbolically represents Busan as the city of film, while 'Wave Busan' embodies Busan as the city of the sea. These spaces are expected to showcase the unique character of Busan to tourists and offer a place to experience local culture.
The city expects that the creation of the indoor gardens will improve indoor air quality at Gimhae International Airport and provide a pleasant and beautiful smart green cultural space for airport users.
An Cheolsoo, Director of the Green City Bureau, stated, "With the creation of the indoor gardens, Gimhae International Airport, which serves over 10 million users annually as Busan's representative multi-use facility, has been reborn as a smart green cultural space. By providing a more pleasant environment for visitors, we hope to help stabilize their minds and bodies, as well as promote Busan's image as a garden city. We also plan to create a high-quality indoor garden at the Busan Cinema Center, befitting its status as a major landmark, within this year. To realize 'Global Garden City Busan,' we will continue to utilize various resources to establish indoor and outdoor garden spaces at Busan's major attractions, expanding opportunities for citizens and visitors to enjoy garden culture."
