Gwangjin-gu Seeks Model Restaurants Excelling in Taste, Hygiene, and Hospitality

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is recruiting new model restaurants to promote a healthy food culture.

The model restaurant program is operated to improve the hygiene conditions of food service establishments and enhance the level of service. There are currently 131 model restaurants designated in Gwangjin-gu, contributing to the improvement of the food culture.

This year, 15 new restaurants will be designated. The application period is until August 9, and any general restaurant registered in the area can apply. Establishments that serve alcoholic beverages such as hof (Korean pub) or sojubang (soju bars), or handle disliked foods such as sacheoltang (herbal soup), are not eligible to apply.

The selection criteria include ▲building structure and environment ▲kitchen condition ▲storage and transportation facilities for raw materials ▲employee service ▲side dishes provided and price labeling. After on-site inspections and review by the Food Culture Improvement Movement Promotion Committee, the final selection will be made by the end of September.

Selected model restaurants will receive benefits such as ▲a model restaurant sign ▲goods support worth 200,000 KRW ▲priority loans for facility improvement funds ▲promotion on the district office website and unmanned information kiosks.

Those wishing to be designated as model restaurants can submit an application form by visiting or mailing it to the Health and Hygiene Division of Gwangjin-gu Office. For more details, please contact the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “There are many restaurants in Gwangjin-gu that have the three essentials of taste, hygiene, and kindness. We are promoting the model restaurant designation project to establish a sound food culture, and we hope for the active interest and participation of those in the food service industry. Since the food service industry is directly linked to the health of residents, we will take the lead in creating a clean and dignified dining environment.”
