The Gyeonggi-do Youth Training Center will change its name to the ‘Gyeonggi-do Future Generation Foundation’ and will oversee youth projects that are currently operated separately by public institutions under the province.
Gyeonggi-do announced that the full revision of the ‘Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Youth Training Facilities in Gyeonggi-do,’ which includes this change, passed the plenary session of the 376th extraordinary meeting of the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Council on the 26th.
Gyeonggi-do has been striving to establish a foundation to systematically and professionally support youth and adolescents, responding to opinions that there has been a lack of such support.
With this ordinance revision, key youth projects of the 8th local government administration, including ▲Youth Ladder (overseas training) ▲Youth Gap Year (career exploration) ▲Youth Worker Savings Account ▲Youth Capacity Building Support Project, which have been dispersed across public institutions, can now be integrated and promoted by the Gyeonggi-do Future Generation Foundation.
Meanwhile, as a follow-up measure to the ordinance revision, a task force will be operated starting in August to carry out work related to the foundation’s transition. Preparations for the foundation’s launch will begin to ensure its normal operation from next year, including revising the articles of incorporation, appointing the CEO, hiring staff, and preparing for the transfer of duties.
