Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that the Gwangyang Volunteer Center supported the ‘Modu愛 Food Truck’ at the flood recovery site in Nonsan City, Chungnam, which was declared a special disaster area due to heavy rain over two days.

About 30 volunteers from Gwangyang City, including Ha Tae-woo, Director of the Resident Welfare Division, and groups such as the Uroe Jinggeomdari Volunteer Group, Jungma 112 Bicycle Volunteer Corps, Gwangyang Saemaeul Women's Association, Jungma Senior Welfare Center, and Seogang Corporation, operated the ‘Modu愛 Food Truck’ at the Nonsan flood recovery site to support residents and volunteers on site.

The ‘Modu愛 Food Truck’ is a mobile food truck sponsored by POSCO for disaster relief and support for vulnerable groups at risk of food insecurity, provided to the Jungma Senior Welfare Center. In 2022, it visited the POSCO Pohang Steelworks, which suffered heavy damage from Typhoon Hinnamnor, delivering about 5,600 snacks including Gwangyang Maehwa bread, Gwangyang persimmons, and fish cakes to the recovery workers. It was also dispatched to assist volunteers at this flood recovery site.

The ‘Uroe Jinggeomdari Volunteer Group’ (led by Yang Seong-mo) prepared food ingredients two days before departing for the flood recovery site to operate the ‘Modu愛 Food Truck,’ providing about 300 lunch boxes made with Gwangyang agricultural products (Gwangyang rice, Gwangyang plums) along with plum beverages to residents and volunteers on site. The ‘Sarang Gubneun Saramdeul Volunteer Group’ (led by Kim Yoon-hye) also delivered about 400 pieces of freshly baked bread to offer comfort and support to the flood-affected areas.

Meanwhile, the Gwangyang Volunteer Center plans to dispatch the ‘Modu愛 Food Truck’ again to the Nonsan flood recovery site on Saturday, the 27th, to provide comprehensive support to Nonsan residents and volunteers.

Ha Tae-woo, Director of the Resident Welfare Division, said, “I believe the dedicated efforts of Gwangyang City volunteers will be a great comfort to the citizens of Nonsan,” and added, “I hope Nonsan City overcomes this difficult situation and returns to normal life as soon as possible.”
