The Community Social Security Council of Iwol-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, North Gyeongsang Province (Public Chair Park Hyungil, Civil-Government Chair Lee Heerak) held an event on the 25th to share nutritious food with 145 households of vulnerable seniors in the area, wishing for their health.
On the 25th, the Ilwol-myeon Community Security Council of Yeongyang County held a nourishing food sharing event for 145 elderly households in vulnerable groups.
This project was carried out as a regional specialty initiative by the Iwol-myeon Community Social Security Council, in collaboration with the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea’s “Together for Happiness Fund,” to help boost energy during the summer, especially in celebration of Jungbok.
To help seniors overcome the heat and spend a healthy summer, nutritious beef bone soup (Gomtang) was delivered primarily to those most vulnerable, including the elderly, children, and people with disabilities. The council also checked on their well-being, striving to enhance the sense of welfare among the vulnerable.
Ms. Kwon (female, 86), who received the Gomtang, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Both my body and mind have been exhausted by the heatwave and monsoon, but thanks to you, I was able to eat Gomtang, a nutritious summer dish, and I feel like I will regain my strength soon.”
Park Hyungil, the public chair, said, “I hope the seniors enjoy the Gomtang today and spend the summer safely. We will continue to foster a culture where the public and private sectors work together to share warmth and care with our neighbors.”
