A man in his 70s is suspected to have jumped to his death after killing his wife in Songpa-gu, Seoul, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced on the 25th that they are investigating an incident in which a man in his 70s, identified as Mr. A, jumped from an apartment complex in Geoyeo-dong, Songpa-gu.

According to the police and fire department, a report was received around 6:15 p.m. the previous day that a person had fallen into a flower bed from the apartment. The fire authorities performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Mr. A, but he ultimately passed away and was handed over to the police.

At Mr. A’s residence, his wife, a woman in her 70s, was found dead from stab wounds. No signs of forced entry or a suicide note were found at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident with the bereaved family and plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service.

A police official stated, "We are investigating on the presumption that Mr. A killed his wife and then jumped to his death."
