Explanation of Compensation Procedures and Relocation Expenses at Yeonmu-eup Office
Nonsan City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 25th that it will hold a resident briefing session on land compensation for the National Defense Industrial Complex development project at the Yeonmu-eup Office on the 30th.
The briefing session will be attended by Mayor Baek Seonghyeon, members of the Nonsan City Council, officials from Chungcheongnam-do, LH representatives, landowners, and other stakeholders. They will explain the compensation procedures for the defense industrial complex, compensation for agricultural losses, relocation expenses for residents, business compensation, and the relocation of graves.
The land compensation process was originally expected to take place at the end of 2026, but Mayor Baek actively advocated for the necessity and justification of the defense industrial complex, advancing the schedule by one year compared to the original plan.
LH plans to announce the compensation plan in December after conducting basic surveys, preparing documentation, and management reviews, and will proceed with appraisal and compensation negotiations in the first half of 2025.
Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, "The National Defense Industrial Complex will become a new growth engine for Nonsan, serving as a key to overcoming the crisis of population decline and promoting balanced regional development. We will swiftly complete the procedures related to the establishment of the defense industrial complex and lead the designation of the Defense Opportunity Development Zone to make Nonsan the top city for defense and fisheries industries in Korea."
Meanwhile, the Nonsan National Defense Industrial Complex, which received approval for its industrial complex plan from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in January this year, is a project to establish an innovation platform for the military power support system industry by clustering defense-related manufacturing companies, research institutes, and testing and certification agencies.
A total of 200 billion won will be invested to develop a site of 870,177 square meters (approximately 260,000 pyeong) in the Dongsan-ri and Jukbon-ri areas of Yeonmu-eup. In the future, the plan is to expand it into a 1 million pyeong specialized complex in cooperation with Chungnam Province.
