Crime-Free Yeongdeungpo-gu... Safety Management CCTV Installed in 13 Public Restrooms

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will accelerate crime prevention by installing black box-type CC (closed-circuit) TVs to create safe public restrooms that residents can use with peace of mind.

Accordingly, the district installed a total of 19 safety management CC (closed-circuit) TVs at the entrances of 13 public restrooms in the area to alleviate residents' anxiety about various crimes and safety accidents and to prevent crime damage.

In particular, security was strengthened by installing black box-type CC (closed-circuit) TVs that are more convenient to use and have superior performance. The advantage of black box-type CC (closed-circuit) TVs is that videos can be checked on-site immediately via smartphone or PC without additional installation of dedicated programs.

Additionally, the district plans to install 10 more emergency bells inside public restrooms in the second half of this year to enhance crime prevention effects. In case of an emergency, the emergency bell will quickly transmit the location to the 112 control room, enabling users to receive prompt assistance.

Meanwhile, to eliminate safety blind spots, the district conducts monthly inspections using illegal filming detection devices at all public restrooms in the area. Furthermore, in preparation for the upcoming summer vacation season, special inspections on safety and hygiene will be carried out to ensure that users can use public restrooms safely and comfortably.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We will continue thorough management not only by installing safety management devices but also to ensure that residents can actually receive help in emergency situations.” He added, “We will do our best to alleviate residents’ anxiety about using public restrooms and raise awareness about crime so that public restrooms can be used safely.”
