Colorful Performances and Experience Events for Two Days Starting on the 27th
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) will host the 26th Gijang Gaetmaeul Festival at Ilgwang Beach from today, the 27th, to the 28th, organized by the Gijang Gaetmaeul Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Kim Bujin).
The Gijang Gaetmaeul Festival is the representative maritime cultural festival of Gijang-gun, celebrating its 26th anniversary this year.
The festival takes place annually at Ilgwang Beach, the setting of author Oh Youngsoo's short story "Gaetmaeul" and the filming location for director Kim Sooyong's 1965 film adaptation of the novel with the same name.
This year as well, a variety of cultural and artistic performances and diverse hands-on programs utilizing local content will offer a wealth of sights and experiences to tourists visiting Ilgwang Beach during the summer season.
On the first day of the festival, the 27th, there will be a parade, opening ceremony, and musical performances, while the second day, the 28th, will feature various cultural performances and the Gaetmaeul Concert.
In addition, throughout the festival, everyone can enjoy a range of hands-on events such as pulling a seine net, catching fish, and water gun survival games, as well as a new prize event called "Find the Lucky Pebble," making it a cultural festival for all ages.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, "This festival is Gijang-gun's representative summer cultural festival, based on the local content of Gaetmaeul, where visitors can enjoy various experiences and performances. I hope many people will come, enjoy the festival alongside Gijang's beautiful natural environment, and create special memories."
