How to Respond to Emergencies in Middle and High Schools and Hospitals
The EMS joint club of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (President: Kim Youngdo, Head of Department: Park Youngsoo) announced on the 24th that they conducted free emergency care education at middle and high schools as well as nursing hospitals from July 4 to 16, 2024, as part of the College Innovation Support Project.
This training was held at Dongui Middle School, Busan Information High School, and Centum Haein Nursing Hospital, providing basic emergency response methods to middle and high school students, faculty, and hospital staff. The program aimed to enhance practical response abilities and deepen understanding of emergency situations.
At Dongui Middle School, emergency care training was conducted for second and third-year students and faculty over three days?July 4, 8, and 9. The training covered adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) usage, and essential life-saving emergency care skills for responding to emergencies.
At Busan Information High School, emergency care education was provided to students over two days, July 5 and 16. Students learned emergency care techniques such as bandaging and the Heimlich maneuver, as well as vital sign measurement, blood glucose testing, and pulse oximetry. The program helped students improve their ability to respond quickly and accurately in various emergency situations.
At Centum Haein Nursing Hospital, customized emergency care training was provided to all staff on July 10 and 11. In addition to adult CPR and AED usage, the training included emergency care techniques for elderly patients, such as the Heimlich maneuver. Through this, hospital staff enhanced their practical response skills and learned tailored emergency care techniques for elderly patients.
Professor Lee Mihwa of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology said, "We have worked to help students build the confidence and ability to respond in emergency situations," adding, "We plan to promote safety awareness through various educational programs for the local community."
The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Dong-Eui University of Science is conducting first aid training as part of community service activities and taking a commemorative photo.
