The Presidential Office described the dinner held on the afternoon of the 24th with President Yoon Seok-yeol and People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, among other candidates for the party convention, as a "dinner for great harmony." Regarding the possibility of a private meeting between President Yoon and Leader Han, they said, "Everything is open."
According to the Presidential Office, President Yoon plans to host a dinner in the evening at the pine grass garden of the Yongsan Presidential Office, inviting Leader Han and the new People Power Party leadership, as well as unsuccessful party convention candidates including Won Hee-ryong, Na Kyung-won, and Yoon Sang-hyun. Senior aides at the level of chief secretary and above will attend from the Presidential Office.
A Presidential Office official told reporters that day about the significance of the dinner, "The party convention was more intense than ever, and the President also said in his congratulatory speech yesterday that 'the party and government must become one. We are a community of destiny,'" adding, "So this dinner is a dinner for great harmony."
Regarding plans for a private meeting between President Yoon and Leader Han, the official said, "Nothing has been confirmed at this point," but added, "Through schedule coordination, such a meeting could be possible later on. Not necessarily today."
They further added, "Since it has been less than a day since the party leader took office, it is expected that concrete plans on how the party and government will communicate and cooperate will be prepared through this dinner."
The dinner was reportedly naturally decided after a phone call between President Yoon and Leader Han immediately following the party convention the previous day.
A Presidential Office official said, "(The dinner) was first proposed by the Presidential Office," and "It was decided naturally through the coordination process."
Regarding Leader Han maintaining his previous stance on the third-party recommendation proposal in the special prosecutor law for Chae Sang-byeong during an interview after his election, the Presidential Office showed a cautious position.
On related questions, the official said, "Rather than making any special remarks about (Leader Han's) interview itself, we will work together with one mind going forward."
